My name is Betsy Cornett. Some of you may remember me as Betsy Rocks. I am a Work at Home Mom (WAHM) and back in the day I had a cassette by WHAM. I just moved to a cool historical town in Virginia though I live in the middle of a retail Arcadia.    The house is a mess, but there’s always something cooking.

I’m also an “artist” (you must act out air quotes).  I like to paint and draw.  I have always been considered “creative” (air quotes again).  Being recognized as “unique” (you know the drill) since elementary school, I floated through the Talented and Gifted programs all the way to graduation.  College, however, didn’t recognize my greatness, just the checks that paid for my books and ketchup packet stash.  More importantly, I needed money to pay my exorbitant cell phone bill, I needed a job.

Thinking a cubicle would be a neat place to work, I got a job as a Compliance Analyst. In a nutshell, I went through everyone’s emails before they were sent or received.  Since I was so good at reading all those dirty jokes, I took on an additional position as Database Developer which is just a glorified name for tedious Data Entry Drone.  I found myself in Yahoo! Stock Chat rooms where I then took my saved lunch money and dumped it all in Daytek and began trading stocks.   One fine day I woke up hating my job and the car that took me there so I put in my resignation and took on trading stocks and website development from my two bedroom apartment.  This was the beginning of the dot bomb.  But for some reason, I was 'Tha Bomb' and rocked out some excellent trades and some impressive web sites as well.

Telling someone you are a day trader can yield many responses.  Mostly people would think I was a bottom feeding crook.  Or they would ask me if I could make money for them.  Wouldn’t that make me a broker?  That would mean taking long tests which I had no desire to study for.  Coming full circle eventually.  I decided to put day trading on the back burner and earn a more reputable living by putting more focus into Web Design.  Self-taught in the ways of HTML, CSS, PHP, JavaScript, Flash, and other things nerdy and boring, I started Moxie Web Designs in 2004.  Now having a place to put my blog and email address, I quickly acquired loyal customers and awesome friends.  Basically, I love building websites and want to build yours.  So, if you like what you see, send an email, call, or bump into me at Capital Ale, the pretzels there are yum.

If you want to contact me, send an email to:

I read all my email. I can’t possibly reply to it all. If you dont get a response, that just simply means that I'm a rotten person.
